“This was originally a charcoal sketch drawing of figures overlapping one another, back from 2003/04. Having not seen this old sketch for 20 years, I saw it and thought, “yes, this will make a good candidate for some fun experimenting with pastels and color.” Certain elements of futurism I’ve been fond of for a long time, and that is what the original sketch kind of had going on. I let the mood and the color and favorite figures stay, and bled out the others. Just a jazzy go”
