"It started almost completely abstract, mostly shapes and colors. I took a page from fine artist painter and friend, Billie Bourgeois- one of those valuable conversations I was blessed to have, where she talked about 1 of her processes. Upon analyzing the painting after the first session, what should remain or what needs to leave? What was elemental and what was noise. I’ll note that it felt good, still fresh and exciting. There’s a rest finding the groove in your own pocket. What remained were the central figure of Jesus, the winged female figure, (Holy Spirit) a male figure in the back right- I believe to be carrying the ark of the covenant, and the two symbols at the bottom. One I think is the Father. The triangular symbol is pointing at Jesus, and has the 3 points reiterating it all. The garment of Jesus is also key and remained, making a nice transition. It’s like land, our earth. And while his head and face are centered, they blend in, or are quieter, contrasted by the female and male figures, and also the blood stripes. I think they evoke more presence initially, and the main thing you settle on after studying for a moment and being moved by the rest, is Jesus. The head is like a pillar atop the mountain. Powerful and yet, gentle. 

The border was the selvages of a linen canvas roll I saved for the last 2 years. I used every inch, and it was amazing to me, because the 2 pieces perfectly fit around the border"
